Discover all of the tourist attractions in Guatemala

Diverse and enchanting, Guatemala offers incredible experiences for every traveler. Whether you’re interested in exploring the country’s culture and Mayan heritage, enjoying its natural beauty, or pursuing outdoor activities, there are a host of fascinating things to do here to suit your tastes.

La Antigua

Antigua Guatemala, or “La Antigua”, as it’s often called, is about 45 minutes away from Guatemala City. It was the country’s capital for over 200 years, from the era of the Spanish conquistadors in the mid-16th century until the relocation of the capital to what is now Guatemala City in the late 18th century. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

While in La Antigua, be sure to spend time in the famous, and beautiful, Central Plaza, with its unique Mermaid Fountain. Though ravaged by earthquakes, the buildings surrounding the plaza (including the Cathedral de San Jose) are lovely as well. The Museum of Colonial Art, formerly known as the University of San Carlos Museum, is also worth a visit.

Lake Atitlán

Situated in the highlands about two hours west of Guatemala City is Lake Atitlán, Central America’s deepest lake. Three volcanoes border the lake to its south, and the villages surrounding it offer wonderful insight into the Mayan culture.

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tikal is located in the north of the country and is part of Guatemala's Tikal National Park. It is a large pre-Columbian Maya archaeological site and urban area, and is populated with thousands of ancient structures, only some of which have been excavated.

All of Guatemala’s six golf courses are easily accessible from Guatemala City. Furthermore, the country boasts an ideal climate for golf, with comfortable days and cool evenings. San Isidro Golf Club is just 15 minutes away from our hotel, and Fuego Maya, the Pete Dye-designed golf course in La Antigua, is nothing short of spectacular.

Those who enjoy to fish will be thrilled by the opportunities available to them here in Guatemala. Sailfish in particular are the most plentiful here, but many other species abound. Ask a member of our staff to help organize a fishing tour for you during your stay!
